Adventure Bible Campers had a fun filled week last week. The theme was Deep Sea Discovery and each day of camp featured a Bible Story and a message: God Knows Me, God Hears Me, God Strengthens Me, God Loves Me and God Sends Me. Each morning students made crafts, played games, learned fun songs and had snacks together.
Adventure Bible Camp at Immanuel is for ages 4 through students entering 5th grade in the fall. During the week, the 4th and 5th Graders had many opportunities to serve God and Immanuel. They planted flowers outside the church, helped to clean up some trash at Community Park, helped with various tasks around the school and making items for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. One morning they handed out water bottles at the train station to those going to the Cubs game. One water recipient was so appreciative she called Principal Schiestel to compliment Immanuel on teaching the children to serve others.
The week concluded with a picnic after camp on Friday. Staff, volunteers, campers and their families had lunch together in the playground and enjoyed a beautiful summer day. Campers got a special treat, they each got to make their own flavor of shaved ice at the Kona Ice truck! It was a fun way to end a great week.
A special thanks to all of the 58 volunteers that helped make Adventure Bible Camp possible! Next year our Adventure Bible Camp will be held June 18-22, 2018. Registration for will open January 1, 2018.
