Tim Schmitt, a May 2015 Daily Herald Cook of the Week, has once again volunteered to create a new and delicious menu for the Community Meal scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. this Thursday, January 18, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine. Tim enjoys feeding large crowds with delicious recipes. This Thursday, he intends to serve a scrumptious Bolognese with ground beef, marinara and bow tie pasta, green beans, salad with choice of dressings, fresh fruit, and rolls.
The entire community is invited to this no-cost Community Meal made possible by the generous monetary donation of Thrivent Financial. Guitarist Paolo Apuli will perform from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Ticket pull prizes include a 7 quart crock pot and a $25 Starbucks gift card.
Won’t you join us for the meal in order to meet others? Are you able to assist in serving the community for this meal? If you are, please link to the Community Meal Sign Up Form. The efforts of the workers, faith in the vision, and the Lord’s provision, indeed have blessed The Community Meal. It is heartwarming to see first-hand how people’s needs for community interaction, beyond that of enjoying the meals are met. The mood and the interaction of the people is always very encouraging. Everyone seems to enjoy free and open conversation with people who they have just met.
All of this would not be possible without the incredible vision and faithfulness of Mary Sandner and Sandy Haase, from The Community Meal program of Barrington, Illinois. Their team support has been vital to our volunteers and leaders. Immanuel has modeled what these ladies have provided for the Barrington community, and other churches are also now hosting these meals throughout the year.
Immanuel wishes to thank Thrivent Financial for the generous monetary donation given to purchase food for The Community Meal, and NPN 360 Northern Print Network, for their donations of signs and hand sanitizers for the guests. The giveaways are always a big hit!We have discovered these meals provide fun ways for people to volunteer for a unique and memorable experience for all. Humble hearts of volunteer serving and some “down home simple hospitality” always allow Immanuel the opportunity to provide friendly fellowship for all. Please come to the Community Meal on Thursday, January 18, 2018.
