“Move-In Essentials” Drive for Veterans Exiting Homeless Shelters
Immanuel Lutheran Church and School will be conducting a collection for “Move-In-Essential Items” the week of Veteran’s Day, November 2-13. This effort, run by Military Outreach USA, will benefit veterans exiting a homelessness shelter and moving into a home. When a veteran moves from a shelter or transitional housing into a permanent residence they often only bring the clothes on their backs and the items they carried on the streets. They lack the needed basic essentials to setup their new residence. Items we take for granted such as toilet paper, cleaning supplies, basic hygiene products and more are required.
Immanuel will be collecting these items November 2 – 13. Please bring your donations to Immanuel by November 13. At 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11, all donations collected to date will be taken to Fellowship Hall and Pastor Tom, 50’s Plus, and everyone else who would like to participate, will be taking a few moments to honor those Veterans who have so nobly served our nation.
Veterans’ Photo Display
Immanuel will be displaying veterans’ photos Veteran’s Day weekend. If you or a family member are a veteran and would like to participate, please bring in a photo, labeled with your name and contact information, to the church office.
When asked why Immanuel is participating in this program, Deaconess Suzanne Fingerle replied simply, “It’s the right thing to do. It touches me personally too, with a brother and uncle who are veterans and a niece and two nephews who are serving now. We owe our freedom to veterans.”
